The Big Bang theory is taught as scientific fact. But many scientists - including secular ones - have pointed out serious problems with the theory that are rarely discussed in textbooks.

This workbook examines the scientific problems with the Big Bang from multiple perspectives.

1What Is the Big Bang Theory?

The Standard Model

~13.8 billion years ago, all matter/energy was compressed in a singularity
The singularity "exploded" creating space, time, matter, and energy
The universe has been expanding ever since
Stars, galaxies, planets formed from gas clouds over billions of years

Evidence Cited For Big Bang

Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB): Radiation "leftover" from the Big Bang
Redshift: Light from distant galaxies is shifted to red (claimed to show expansion)
Hydrogen/Helium ratio: Predicted by Big Bang nucleosynthesis

2Problem #1: Something from Nothing

The First Law of Thermodynamics

The Law States

Energy cannot be created or destroyed - only transferred or converted from one form to another.

This is one of the most fundamental laws of physics.

The Problem for Big Bang

Where did the singularity come from?
If nothing existed "before" the Big Bang, how did something come from nothing?
The Big Bang requires matter/energy to appear out of nothing
This violates the First Law of Thermodynamics

Evolutionist Responses

"The singularity just existed" - not an explanation
"Quantum fluctuations" - but quantum mechanics requires something to fluctuate
"We don't know yet" - an admission of the problem

The Biblical Alternative

"In the beginning Elohim created..." - An eternal Creator existing outside of creation explains the origin of matter and energy.

This doesn't violate the First Law because Yahuah is the source of all energy.

"For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth." - Colossians 1:16

3Problem #2: Entropy

The Second Law of Thermodynamics

The Law States

Entropy (disorder) always increases in a closed system. Things naturally go from order to disorder, not the reverse.

Examples: Ice melts, buildings decay, machines wear out.

The Problem for Big Bang

Big Bang claims the universe started in a state of maximum disorder (singularity)
Then organized itself into galaxies, stars, planets, life
This is the opposite of what the Second Law predicts
The universe should be becoming MORE disordered, not less

Evolutionist Response

"Local decreases in entropy can occur with energy input" - but:

The universe IS the closed system
Random energy doesn't create order without information
Sunlight on a junkyard doesn't build a car

The Biblical View

Genesis describes creation going from maximum order (created perfect) to increasing disorder (the Fall, curse, decay).

This matches the Second Law perfectly!

"For the creation was made subject to vanity... the whole creation groans and travails in pain." - Romans 8:20-22

4Problem #3: The Horizon Problem

How Can the Universe Be the Same Temperature?

The Observation

The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) is almost perfectly uniform in temperature across the entire universe (~2.7 Kelvin everywhere).

The Problem

For temperature to equalize, heat must transfer between regions
Heat cannot travel faster than light
In Big Bang timeline, opposite sides of the universe have never been in contact
How can regions that never communicated have the same temperature?

This is called the "Horizon Problem" - it has no good solution in Big Bang cosmology.

The "Inflation" Patch

To fix this, theorists invented "cosmic inflation" - a period of faster-than-light expansion. But:

No evidence inflation happened
No known physics explains it
It was invented specifically to solve this problem
Creates other problems (fine-tuning, etc.)

An Alternative

If the universe was created with uniform temperature from the beginning, there's no horizon problem.

5Problem #4: Missing Antimatter

Where Did It Go?

The Physics

When energy converts to matter, it creates equal amounts of matter AND antimatter. When matter meets antimatter, they annihilate each other.

The Problem

Big Bang should have created equal matter and antimatter
They should have annihilated each other
The universe should be empty - just energy
Yet we have a universe full of matter, almost no antimatter
Where did the antimatter go?

The "CP Violation" Excuse

Scientists claim there was a slight asymmetry favoring matter. But:

No mechanism explains why
The asymmetry required is finely-tuned
Experiments haven't confirmed sufficient asymmetry

Analysis

Why might physicists accept an unproven explanation rather than question the Big Bang itself?

6Problem #5: Star Formation

Has a Star Ever Been Observed Forming?

The Claim

Gas clouds collapse under gravity to form stars. This has happened trillions of times throughout the universe.

The Problem

Gas clouds expand due to heat - they don't naturally collapse
Gas pressure resists gravitational collapse
No star formation has ever been directly observed
"Star nurseries" show existing stars, not formation
First-generation stars face even bigger problems (no metals to cool gas)

What We Observe

Stars burning (using fuel)
Stars exploding (supernovae)
Stars changing brightness
But no new stars forming from gas clouds

The Biblical View

"He made the stars also" (Genesis 1:16) - Stars were created mature and complete. We don't see formation because it didn't happen naturally.

"He tells the number of the stars; He calls them all by their names." - Psalm 147:4

7The Distant Starlight Question

Isn't This a Problem for Creation?

The Objection

"If the universe is only ~6,000 years old, how can we see light from stars millions of light-years away?"

Possible Answers

Mature creation: Yahuah created light "in transit" - stars were visible from Day 4
Time dilation: Relativity allows different time experiences - billions of years could pass in space while thousands pass on Earth
Light speed change: Some evidence light speed may have been faster in the past
Distance assumptions: Our distance calculations may be wrong

Big Bang Has the Same Problem!

The "Horizon Problem" (Lesson 4) shows the Big Bang also has a distant light problem - requiring unexplained "inflation."

Both views have light-travel challenges!
