DINOSAURS AND CREATION

The Biblical Truth About Dinosaurs

TRUTH CARRIERS EDUCATION SYSTEM
True Science Series - Adult Tier 1 (6Rs Method)

ABOUT THIS WORKBOOK

This workbook teaches that dinosaurs were created by Yahuah alongside all other animals on Day 6 of Creation, coexisted with humans, and were dramatically affected by the global Flood of Noah. The biblical term for large reptilian creatures is "tanniyn," often translated as "dragon" or "sea monster."

Core Thesis: Dinosaurs are not millions of years old. They lived with humans, are described in Scripture, and their fossils are evidence of the catastrophic global Flood.

RECEIVE - Core Teaching

The Creation of All Living Things

Genesis chapter 1 reveals that Yahuah created all living creatures during the Creation week. This includes every creature that has ever existed - including dinosaurs. There were no creatures evolving over millions of years before humans arrived. All animals were created fully formed within the same week as Adam.

Genesis 1:21
"So Elohim created great sea creatures (תַּנִּינִם הַגְּדֹלִים - tanninim hagedolim) and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind."

The Hebrew Word "Tanniyn"

The Hebrew word tanniyn (תַּנִּין - Strong's H8577) appears 28 times in Scripture. It is variously translated as:

This word refers to large reptilian creatures - what we would today call dinosaurs and other large reptiles.

Land Animals Created on Day Six

Genesis 1:24-25
"Then Elohim said, 'Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind'; and it was so. And Elohim made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good."

Dinosaurs were land animals, created on Day 6 alongside all other land creatures - and alongside humans. Adam and Eve lived in a world that included dinosaurs.

Creation Was "Very Good"

Genesis 1:31
"Then Elohim saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good."

When Yahuah finished creating, everything was "very good." There was no death, no suffering, no animals eating other animals. Dinosaurs were part of this perfect creation.

REFLECT - Meditation Questions

Take time to consider these questions:

  1. What does it mean that Yahuah created "great sea creatures" (tanninim)?
  2. How does knowing that dinosaurs were created on Day 6 with humans change your understanding of history?
  3. Why is it important that creation was declared "very good" before the Fall?

RECALL - Fill-in-the-Blank

1. Yahuah created all land animals on Day of Creation.

Adam Named ALL the Animals

Genesis 2:19-20
"Out of the ground Yahuah Elohim formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field."

Adam named ALL the animals. This includes dinosaurs. If dinosaurs had died out millions of years before humans, Adam could not have named them. Scripture testifies that humans and dinosaurs coexisted from the very beginning.

No Death Before the Fall

Romans 5:12
"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned."

This is a critical point: death entered the world through Adam's sin. If dinosaurs died "65 million years ago" (as evolutionists claim), then death existed for millions of years before Adam sinned. This completely contradicts Scripture.

The evolutionary timeline requires millions of years of death, suffering, disease, and extinction BEFORE humans ever existed. But the Bible clearly states that death came through Adam's sin - not before it.

All Animals Were Originally Herbivores

Genesis 1:30
"Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food; and it was so."

Originally, ALL animals ate plants - including T-Rex and other "carnivorous" dinosaurs. Sharp teeth do not prove meat-eating. Pandas have very sharp teeth but eat almost exclusively bamboo. Fruit bats have sharp teeth but eat fruit.

Evidence for Coexistence

Historical and Archaeological Evidence:

  1. Cave paintings worldwide - depicting dinosaur-like creatures
  2. Ancient artifacts - showing detailed knowledge of dinosaur anatomy
  3. Dragon legends - consistent across every culture on every continent
  4. Ica Stones from Peru - depicting humans alongside dinosaurs
  5. Bishop Bell's brass (1496) - showing accurate sauropod dinosaurs

If humans never saw dinosaurs, how did ancient people accurately depict them in their art? How did every culture develop "dragon" legends independently? The answer is simple: humans and dinosaurs lived together, and the memory of these creatures persisted in human culture as "dragon" accounts.

REFLECT - Meditation Questions

  1. Why is Romans 5:12 so devastating to the idea of millions of years of evolution?
  2. How does knowing that Adam named dinosaurs change your view of Genesis?
  3. Why do you think dragon legends exist in every culture worldwide?

RECALL - Fill-in-the-Blank

LESSON 3: BEHEMOTH - THE GREAT BEAST

RECEIVE - Core Teaching

Job's Description of Behemoth

In Job chapter 40, Yahuah Himself describes a creature called "Behemoth" to Job. This is not a mythological creature - Yahuah points to it as evidence of His creative power and uses it to humble Job.

Job 40:15-17
"Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; he eats grass like an ox. See now, his strength is in his hips, and his power is in his stomach muscles. He moves his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are tightly knit."

Key Characteristics of Behemoth

Characteristic Scripture Reference Significance
Made "along with" Job Job 40:15 Created at same time as humans
Eats grass like an ox Job 40:15 Herbivore
Tail "like a cedar" Job 40:17 Enormous tail - cedar trees are massive
"Chief of the ways of Elohim" Job 40:19 Largest land animal Yahuah made
Lies under lotus/willows Job 40:21-22 Lives in marshlands
Not afraid of flooding Jordan Job 40:23 Massive size

Why Behemoth Cannot Be an Elephant or Hippopotamus

Some Bible commentators try to identify Behemoth as an elephant or hippopotamus. But this interpretation fails completely when we examine the details:

The Tail Problem:

  • Elephant tail: Thin, rope-like - nothing like a cedar tree
  • Hippopotamus tail: Small stub, only about 8 inches long
  • Cedar tree: Massive trunk, 6-8 feet in diameter

Neither elephant nor hippo has a tail remotely resembling a cedar. The only known creatures with cedar-sized tails are sauropod dinosaurs like Brachiosaurus or Apatosaurus.

Additionally, Behemoth is called "the chief of the ways of Elohim" - meaning the largest or most impressive land animal Yahuah made. Neither elephants nor hippos fit this description when sauropod dinosaurs existed.

Likely Identification: Sauropod Dinosaur

Behemoth perfectly describes a sauropod dinosaur:

REFLECT - Meditation Questions

  1. Why did Yahuah describe Behemoth to Job? What was He demonstrating?
  2. What does it mean that Behemoth was made "along with" Job?
  3. Why do modern commentators try to explain away Behemoth as an elephant or hippo?

RECALL - Fill-in-the-Blank

1. Behemoth's tail is compared to a tree.
2. Behemoth is called the of the ways of Elohim.
3. Behemoth ate like an ox.
4. This creature was made with Job (same time as humans).
5. A hippopotamus tail is only about inches long.

RECITE - Scripture Memory

Job 40:15-17

LESSON 4: LEVIATHAN - THE SEA DRAGON

RECEIVE - Core Teaching

The Fearsome Leviathan

Job chapter 41 is entirely devoted to describing Leviathan - a terrifying sea creature that breathes fire. This is the most detailed description of any animal in the Bible.

Job 41:19-21
"Out of his mouth go burning lights; sparks of fire shoot out. Smoke goes out of his nostrils, as from a boiling pot and burning rushes. His breath kindles coals, and a flame goes out of his mouth."

Characteristics of Leviathan

Characteristic Scripture Description
Armored scales Job 41:15-17 "His rows of scales are his pride, shut up tightly as with a seal"
Cannot be captured Job 41:1-10 "Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook?"
Fire-breathing Job 41:18-21 Smoke, sparks, flames from mouth and nostrils
Glowing wake Job 41:32 "He leaves a shining wake behind him"
"King over all the children of pride" Job 41:34 Most fearsome creature

Other Scripture References

Psalm 74:14
"You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, and gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness."
Psalm 104:26
"There the ships sail about; there is that Leviathan which You have made to play in it."
Isaiah 27:1
"In that day Yahuah with His severe sword, great and strong, will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; and He will slay the reptile that is in the sea."

Fire-Breathing: Is It Possible?

The Bombardier Beetle Evidence:

The bombardier beetle produces a chemical reaction that reaches 212°F (100°C) and can spray it at predators. If a small insect can produce such extreme heat through chemical reactions, why couldn't a larger creature do the same?

Additional considerations:

  • Dragon legends universally include fire-breathing
  • Bioluminescence exists in many sea creatures
  • Some creatures produce light and heat through chemical reactions
  • Yahuah could design any mechanism He chose

The universal prevalence of fire-breathing dragon legends suggests these accounts are based on real observations, not imagination. People from China to Europe to the Americas all described fire-breathing dragons independently.

REFLECT - Meditation Questions

  1. Why did Yahuah devote an entire chapter to describing Leviathan?
  2. What does Leviathan teach us about Yahuah's creative power?
  3. Why do you think fire-breathing dragon legends appear in every culture?

RECALL - Fill-in-the-Blank

1. Leviathan is described in Job chapter .
2. and flame came from Leviathan's mouth.
3. Leviathan's scales were like shields.
4. The beetle proves chemical fire is possible.
5. Leviathan is called "king over all the children of ."

RECITE - Scripture Memory

REVIEW - True or False

RESPOND - Application

1. How does the detailed description of Leviathan demonstrate that Scripture describes real creatures?

2. What does Yahuah's creation of Leviathan teach us about His power and creativity?

LESSON 5: DRAGONS IN SCRIPTURE AND HISTORY

RECEIVE - Core Teaching

The Word "Dragon" in Scripture

The Hebrew word tanniyn (dragon) appears throughout Scripture, not as mythology, but as references to real creatures that people knew and encountered.

Isaiah 27:1
"In that day Yahuah with His severe sword, great and strong, will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; and He will slay the reptile (tanniyn - dragon) that is in the sea."
Isaiah 51:9
"Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Yahuah! Awake as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart, and wounded the dragon (tanniyn)?"
Jeremiah 51:34
"Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me... he has swallowed me up like a dragon (tanniyn)."

Historical Dragon Accounts

Dragon encounters are documented throughout history - not as mythology, but as factual accounts:

Source Date Account
Alexander the Great ~330 BC Soldiers reported a dragon in a cave in India
Herodotus ~450 BC Described flying serpents in Arabia
Josephus ~70 AD Dragons in Egyptian deserts
Anglo-Saxon Chronicle 793 AD Dragons seen flying in England
Chinese historical records Millennia Detailed dragon accounts for thousands of years

Why "Dragon" Instead of "Dinosaur"?

This is a crucial point that many people miss:

The word "dinosaur" was invented in 1841 by Richard Owen.

Before 1841, people called these creatures "dragons."

Same creatures - different names.

Historical accounts of "dragons" predate the evolutionary framework by centuries.

When we read ancient accounts of "dragons," we should understand that these are descriptions of what we now call dinosaurs. The name changed; the creatures did not.

Universal Dragon Legends

Every culture on earth has dragon legends:

If these creatures never existed, how did every isolated culture independently invent similar stories? The answer: they all share the same historical memory of real creatures.

REFLECT - Meditation Questions

  1. Why do you think modern scholars dismiss historical dragon accounts as "mythology"?
  2. What does the universality of dragon legends tell us about human history?
  3. How does knowing that "dinosaur" was invented in 1841 change your perspective?

LESSON 6: THE FLOOD AND DINOSAUR FOSSILS

RECEIVE - Core Teaching

Dinosaurs on the Ark

Genesis 6:19-20
"And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive."

Noah took two of EVERY kind of land animal on the Ark - including dinosaurs. Many people object that dinosaurs were "too big," but this objection fails when we consider the facts:

Facts About Dinosaur Size:

  • The average dinosaur was about the size of a sheep
  • Young/juvenile animals would be much smaller than adults
  • Only about 50 dinosaur "kinds" (not species) needed
  • The Ark was enormous - about 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, 51 feet tall
  • Plenty of room for juvenile dinosaurs

The Flood Created Dinosaur Fossils

The global Flood of Noah's day explains the dinosaur fossil record perfectly:

Observation Flood Explanation
Billions of dead things buried in rock layers Rapid catastrophic burial by Flood waters
Fossils found all over the earth Global Flood covered entire planet
Dinosaurs found in "death poses" Rapid burial while drowning
Marine and land creatures buried together Flood waters mixed all environments
Massive fossil graveyards worldwide Catastrophic mass death

Soft Tissue Discovery

In 2005, Dr. Mary Schweitzer made a shocking discovery that rocked the paleontological world:

Dr. Mary Schweitzer's Discovery:

  • Found soft tissue in a T-Rex femur bone
  • Blood vessels were still flexible
  • Red blood cells were identifiable
  • Proteins (collagen) were still present
  • This is impossible after "65 million years"

Carbon-14 in Dinosaur Bones

Carbon-14 has a maximum dating range of about 100,000 years. After that, it should be completely gone. Yet Carbon-14 has been found in dinosaur bones - proving they are NOT millions of years old.

LESSON 7: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DINOSAURS?

RECEIVE - Core Teaching

The Post-Flood World

After the Flood, the world was dramatically different. The environment that had supported large dinosaurs changed significantly:

Post-Flood Environmental Changes:

  1. Reduced atmospheric pressure - The pre-Flood atmosphere may have been denser
  2. Lower oxygen levels - Less oxygen to support large creatures
  3. Harsher climate - Ice Age following the Flood
  4. Less vegetation - Depleted food sources
  5. Human expansion and hunting - Competition and predation

Biblical Evidence of Post-Flood Dinosaurs

Scripture indicates that dinosaurs survived the Flood and lived for some time afterward:

Gradual Extinction

Dinosaurs did not die out in a sudden asteroid impact. They gradually became extinct over centuries due to:

Factor Effect
Climate change Post-Flood Ice Age made survival difficult
Reduced vegetation Less food for large herbivores
Human hunting Targeted as threats (St. George legends)
Habitat loss Human expansion reduced wild areas
Smaller population Only two of each kind after Flood

This pattern mirrors the extinction of other megafauna (woolly mammoths, saber-toothed cats, giant ground sloths) that lived after the Flood and gradually died out.

Dragon Slaying Legends

Stories of heroes killing dragons (St. George, Beowulf, Sigurd, etc.) likely reflect real encounters with the last surviving dinosaurs. As human civilization expanded, people hunted dangerous predators - just as they do today with lions, wolves, and bears.

REFLECT - Meditation Questions

  1. Why does gradual extinction make more sense than a sudden asteroid impact?
  2. What do dragon-slaying legends tell us about human-dinosaur interaction?
  3. How does the extinction of other megafauna support the biblical timeline?

RECALL - Fill-in-the-Blank

1. Job was the generation after Noah.

LESSON 8: LIES ABOUT DINOSAURS

RECEIVE - Core Teaching

The "65 Million Years Ago" Lie

We are constantly told that dinosaurs lived "65 million years ago" and died out long before humans existed. This is presented as scientific fact, but it is actually an interpretation based on evolutionary assumptions - not evidence.

Problems with "65 Million Years":

  1. Soft tissue - Cannot survive millions of years
  2. Carbon-14 - Should not be present after millions of years
  3. Original proteins - Cannot survive millions of years
  4. DNA fragments - Degrade completely within 1 million years (maximum)

Problems with the Asteroid Theory

The popular "asteroid impact" theory for dinosaur extinction has serious problems:

Dating Method Flaws

The "millions of years" dates come from radiometric dating methods, which have serious problems:

Problem Explanation
Assumes constant decay rates No way to verify rates in the past
Circular reasoning Rocks date fossils, fossils date rocks
Carbon-14 where it shouldn't be Found in diamonds, coal, dinosaur bones
"Wrong" results discarded Only dates that fit the theory are accepted

What Museums Don't Tell You

Natural history museums present evolution as fact, but they don't tell you:

REFLECT - Meditation Questions

  1. Why do you think the scientific establishment is committed to the "millions of years" narrative?
  2. How does the soft tissue discovery expose the flaws in evolutionary dating?
  3. Why is circular reasoning in dating methods a serious problem?

RECALL - Fill-in-the-Blank

1. Carbon-14 has a maximum range of about years.
2. Soft tissue proves dinosaurs died .
3. Radiometric dating assumes decay rates.
4. The asteroid theory cannot explain extinction.

Dinosaurs are not an embarrassment to faith - they are a testimony to Yahuah's creative power! The variety, complexity, and design of these creatures point unmistakably to an intelligent Creator.

Design Features of Dinosaurs

Dinosaur Design Feature Evidence of Intelligence
T-Rex Perfectly balanced bipedal design Complex engineering for 7-ton creature
Pterosaurs Aerodynamic wing design Sophisticated flight mechanics
Triceratops Defensive armor and horns Integrated protection system
Sauropods Efficient heart/circulatory system Pumped blood to heads 30+ feet high
Stegosaurus Heat regulation plates Built-in temperature control

Psalm 104: Creation's Testimony

Psalm 104:24-25
"O Yahuah, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions—this great and wide sea, in which are innumerable teeming things, living things both small and great."

The diversity of life - including the incredible variety of dinosaur kinds - declares the wisdom of Yahuah. Each creature was designed with purpose and intention.

Design Requires a Designer

The complexity of dinosaurs points to intelligent design:

Random mutations and natural selection cannot explain the sophisticated design features of dinosaurs. Design requires a Designer - and that Designer is Yahuah.

LESSON 10: TEACHING TRUTH ABOUT DINOSAURS

RECEIVE - Core Teaching

Answering Common Questions

As you share the truth about dinosaurs, you will encounter common questions. Here are biblical answers:

Q: Why don't we see dinosaurs today?

A: Same reason we don't see dodo birds, woolly mammoths, or saber-toothed cats - extinction. The post-Flood environment and human activity led to their gradual demise, just like many other species.

Q: How did dinosaurs fit on Noah's Ark?

A: Young/juvenile animals would be smaller. The average dinosaur was about the size of a sheep. Only about 50 dinosaur "kinds" (not species) needed to be on the Ark. The Ark was massive - plenty of room.

Q: What about dinosaur eggs and nests?

A: These represent early Flood burial. As waters rose, panicked animals moved to higher ground and some laid eggs before being overwhelmed by the Flood waters.

Q: Why do scientists say millions of years?

A: They start with evolutionary assumptions, not evidence. Same fossils, different interpretation. When you begin with the Bible, the evidence makes perfect sense in a young-earth framework.

The Gospel Connection

Dinosaurs connect to the Gospel message:

Truth Gospel Connection
Dinosaurs prove the Bible is true We can trust all of Scripture
The Flood happened as described Yahuah judges sin but provides salvation
Death came through Adam's sin We need a Savior
Yahusha came to defeat death Salvation through Messiah
Creation points to Creator We are accountable to our Maker

Standing Firm Against Evolution

As believers, we must stand firm on the truth of Yahuah's Word:

Sharing Truth with Others

Be prepared to share the truth about dinosaurs with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15). Many people have never heard the biblical perspective. You can open doors for the Gospel by showing that the Bible has answers about dinosaurs that make sense of the evidence.
