STUDY GUIDE

Key Scripture: "And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places." — Revelation 6:14

What This Study Covers

Key Terms

TermDefinition
Firmament (Raqia)The solid dome/expanse holding the sun, moon, and stars (Genesis 1:6-8, 14-17)
Day of YahuahThe day of divine wrath and judgment upon the earth
Sixth SealRevelation 6:12-17 — the cosmic signs preceding Yahusha's return
Apochorizo (G673)Greek: "departed" — to separate, remove, roll back
Dynamis (G1411)Greek: "powers" — strength, force, the governing authorities of heaven
New JerusalemThe holy city descending from heaven (Revelation 21:2)
Why This Matters: Modern cosmology makes biblical end-times prophecies sound absurd. How can stars "fall to earth" if they're massive suns? How can the sky "roll up like a scroll" if it's empty space? Biblical cosmology makes these prophecies LITERAL and possible.

Lesson 1: Signs in the Sun, Moon, and Stars

Yahusha Himself warned that there would be signs in the heavenly lights before His return.

Luke 21:25-26: "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."
Joel 2:30-31: "And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Yahuah come."

Key Events

Stars fall from heavenMatt 24:29, Rev 6:13After tribulation
Powers of heaven shakenLuke 21:26, Matt 24:29End times

Fill-in-the-Blank

1. According to Luke 21:25, there will be in the sun, moon, and stars.

2. In Joel 2:31, the sun will be turned to and the moon to .

3. These signs happen before the great and terrible day of .

4. Matthew 24:29 says this happens "immediately after the of those days."

5. The powers of the shall be shaken.

True or False

6. The signs in the sun, moon, and stars are purely symbolic, not literal events.

7. The sun, moon, and stars were created "for signs" (Genesis 1:14).

8. These cosmic signs occur BEFORE Yahusha's return.

9. Men's hearts will fail them because of joy at these signs.

Discussion Question

10. Why do you think Yahuah uses the sun, moon, and stars as prophetic signs?

SCRIPTURE MEMORY: Joel 2:31

Lesson 2: The Sixth Seal — Revelation 6

The most detailed description of end-times cosmological events is found in Revelation 6.

Revelation 6:12-14: "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places."

The Six Events of the Sixth Seal

#EventDescription
1Great EarthquakeShakes the entire earth, moves mountains and islands
2Sun Becomes BlackLike sackcloth of hair (dark mourning cloth)
3Moon Becomes BloodTurns red like blood
4Stars Fall to EarthLike untimely figs from a shaken tree
5Heaven Departs as ScrollThe firmament rolled up and removed
6Geography RestructuredEvery mountain and island moved
Critical Question: Modern science claims stars are massive suns, many millions of times larger than earth. How could they "fall to earth"?

Biblical Answer: Because stars are NOT distant suns. They are small lights set IN the firmament (Genesis 1:17). When the firmament is shaken, they fall like figs from a tree.

Fill-in-the-Blank

1. The first event of the sixth seal is a great .

2. The sun becomes black as of hair.

3. The stars fall like untimely from a fig tree.

4. The heaven as a scroll when rolled together.

5. Every mountain and were moved out of their places.

True or False

6. If stars were massive suns, one hitting earth would completely destroy the planet.

7. The comparison of falling stars to figs suggests small objects, not massive explosions.

8. "Sackcloth" was a fine white cloth worn at celebrations.

9. The sixth seal describes events that can only be literal within biblical cosmology.

Discussion Question

10. How does modern cosmology struggle to explain Revelation 6:13?

SCRIPTURE MEMORY: Revelation 6:14

"And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places."

APPLICATION STEP

  • Explain the sixth seal to someone
  • Compare Revelation 6 with Joel 2 and Matthew 24
  • Journal: How does biblical cosmology change my understanding of prophecy?

What I did:

Lesson 3: The Stars Falling to Earth

Revelation 12:3-4: "And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon... And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth."
Isaiah 34:4: "And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree."
The Impossibility Under Modern Cosmology:
If stars were massive suns (some 100+ times larger than our sun):
• Even ONE star hitting Earth would vaporize the entire solar system
• A THIRD of the stars falling (Rev 12:4) would be cosmically impossible
• The Earth surviving is inexplicable

Biblical Cosmology: Stars are small lights embedded IN the firmament. When shaken, they fall like leaves or figs.

Fill-in-the-Blank

1. In Revelation 12:4, the dragon's tail drew a of the stars.

2. Isaiah 34:4 compares falling stars to a falling from a vine.

3. In Genesis 1:17, Elohim set the stars IN the .

4. Mark 13:25 says the stars of heaven shall .

5. The imagery throughout Scripture is of objects falling.

True or False

6. If a third of modern "stars" hit Earth, the planet would be completely destroyed.

7. Scripture consistently compares falling stars to small objects like figs and leaves.

8. After the stars fall in Revelation, the Earth is completely destroyed and gone.

9. Biblical cosmology explains how stars can fall while earth survives.

Discussion Question

10. How has secular cosmology affected Christian interpretation of Scripture?

SCRIPTURE MEMORY: Isaiah 34:4

Lesson 4: The Sky Rolling Up Like a Scroll

Revelation 6:14: "And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together."
Greek Word Study: Apochorizo (G673)
Meaning: To separate, depart, remove, go away, roll back

The firmament will be REMOVED — rolled back like a scroll.
Can You Roll Up Empty Space?
Modern cosmology teaches the sky is just atmosphere and empty vacuum. Can you roll up air? Can you roll up a vacuum? No.

But you CAN roll up a solid structure.
This confirms the firmament is real and physical.

Fill-in-the-Blank

2. The Greek word "apochorizo" means to , depart, or roll back.

3. Isaiah 34:4 says the heavens shall be together as a scroll.

4. You cannot roll up empty , but you can roll up a solid structure.

5. This confirms the firmament is a real, structure.

True or False

6. "Empty space" can be rolled up like a scroll.

7. The Hebrew word "raqia" means something beaten out and stretched.

8. When the firmament is removed, Yahuah's throne becomes visible.

9. The stars can continue shining after the firmament is rolled up.

Discussion

10. How does "rolling up a scroll" support biblical cosmology?

SCRIPTURE MEMORY: Hebrews 1:10-12 (excerpt)

"They shall perish; but thou remainest... And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed."
