Music is organized sound that makes us feel things!
The Four Parts of Music:
- π₯ BEAT - The steady pulse (like your heartbeat!)
- π RHYTHM - Patterns of long and short sounds
- π MELODY - High and low notes in a tune
- π DYNAMICS - Loud and soft
Activity: Find Your Heartbeat!
Put your hand on your chest. Feel that?
That's your heartbeat - a steady BEAT!
Music has a beat just like your heart! π

The beat is the steady pulse in music. It never stops while the music is playing!

3Fast and Slow (Tempo)

Tempo means how fast or slow the music goes.
π’ SLOW tempo = like a turtle walking
π FAST tempo = like a bunny hopping!
Activity: Animal Walk
Move like these animals:
- π’ Turtle - Walk SLOW (slow tempo)
- π Elephant - Walk SLOW and HEAVY
- π Bunny - Hop FAST (fast tempo)
- π¦ Bird - Flutter FAST
Parent can clap fast or slow, child moves to match!
Music Words for Tempo:
- π Largo = Very slow
- πΆ Andante = Walking speed
- π Allegro = Fast!
For Parents
Play different music and ask "Is this fast or slow?" Have child move/dance accordingly.
4Loud and Soft (Dynamics)

Dynamics means how loud or soft the music is.
π LOUD = forte (say "FOR-tay")
π SOFT = piano (say "pee-AH-no")
Activity: Echo Singing
Parent sings, child echoes back!
LOUD: "PRAISE YAHUAH!" β (child) "PRAISE YAHUAH!"
soft: "praise yahuah" β (child) "praise yahuah"
Mix it up! Can the child guess which one comes next?
When Do We Sing Loud or Soft?

"Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with the psaltery and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs." - Psalm 150:3-4
Instrument Families:
- π₯ Percussion - You hit, shake, or scrape them (drums, shakers, tambourine)
- πΊ Winds - You blow into them (recorder, flute, trumpet)
- πΈ Strings - You pluck or bow them (guitar, violin, harp)
- πΉ Keyboard - You press keys (piano, organ)
