Lesson 1: Who Was Daniel?

The Story

Daniel was a young boy who lived in a land called Judah. He loved Yahuah very much! But one day, a powerful king named Nebuchadnezzar came with a big army and took Daniel far away to Babylon.

Even though Daniel was far from home, he never forgot Yahuah. He prayed every day and always did what was right!

👑

Meet Daniel!

Name: Daniel (it means "Elohim is my judge")

Home: Judah, then taken to Babylon

What he did: Prayed every day, told the king's dreams!

"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself."

— Daniel 1:8

Fill in the Blanks:

1 Daniel was taken to a place called .

Draw Daniel!

Draw a picture of Daniel praying:

The Lesson

Even when things are hard, we can still love Yahuah and pray every day - just like Daniel!

Explain that Daniel was probably about 14-17 years old when taken captive. He served in Babylon for over 70 years, remaining faithful to Yahuah his entire life.

Lesson 2: Daniel's Healthy Choice

The Story

The king of Babylon wanted Daniel and his friends to eat the king's fancy food. But this food was NOT what Yahuah said was good to eat!

Daniel was brave! He asked if he could eat vegetables and water instead. The king's helper was worried - what if Daniel got sick?

Daniel said, "Test us for 10 days!" After 10 days, Daniel and his friends looked healthier and stronger than everyone else!

Daniel ate what we call "clean foods" - the healthy foods Yahuah told His people to eat in the Torah!

"Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink."

— Daniel 1:12

(Pulse means vegetables and grains!)

Fill in the Blanks:

1 Daniel asked to eat instead of the king's food.
2 The test lasted for days.
3 After the test, Daniel looked than everyone else!

Circle the Healthy Foods!

Circle the foods Daniel might have eaten:

🥕 Carrots 🍔 Burger 🍎 Apple
🍬 Candy 🥦 Broccoli 🍞 Bread

Can You Remember?

Tell someone the story of Daniel's healthy choice!

I told the story!

The Lesson

We should eat what Yahuah says is good for us! Our bodies are a gift from Him!

This is a great opportunity to discuss clean and unclean foods from Leviticus 11. Daniel's choice shows that following Yahuah's dietary laws brings blessings and health.

Lesson 3: The Fiery Furnace

The Story

Daniel had three best friends: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego!

One day, King Nebuchadnezzar made a giant golden statue. He said, "Everyone must bow down to my statue or be thrown into a fiery furnace!"

But Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego would NOT bow down. They only worshiped Yahuah!

The king was SO angry! He made the fire SEVEN times hotter and threw them in!

What Happened Next?

The king looked into the fire and saw FOUR people walking around!

"Didn't we throw THREE men in? I see FOUR, and the fourth looks like the Son of Elohim!"

Yahuah sent His angel to protect them! They walked out without a single burn - not even the smell of smoke!

"Our Elohim whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace."

— Daniel 3:17

The Lesson

We only worship Yahuah - no one else! He will always be with us, even in scary times!

Lesson 4: Daniel in the Lion's Den

The Story

Daniel was now very old. A new king named Darius loved Daniel because Daniel was so wise and honest.

But some bad men were jealous of Daniel! They tricked the king into making a law: "No one can pray to anyone except the king for 30 days, or they will be thrown to the LIONS!"

Did Daniel stop praying? NO! He opened his window and prayed to Yahuah three times a day, just like always!

Into the Lion's Den!

The bad men caught Daniel praying. King Darius was SO sad, but he had to follow his own law. Daniel was thrown into a pit full of hungry lions!

The king couldn't sleep all night. In the morning, he ran to the lion's den and called out: "Daniel! Did your Elohim save you?"

"My Elohim sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths! They have not hurt me!"

Daniel was safe! The lions didn't touch him!

"My Elohim hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me."

— Daniel 6:22

Fill in the Blanks:

1 Daniel prayed times every day.
2 Daniel was thrown into a den of .
3 Yahuah sent His to shut the lions' mouths.
4 The king's name was .

Draw Daniel and the Lions!

Draw Daniel safe with the lions:

Act It Out!

Pretend to be Daniel praying! Fold your hands and bow your head three times.

I acted it out!

The Lesson

Keep praying no matter what! Yahuah hears our prayers and protects us!

Emphasize that Daniel prayed three times daily facing Jerusalem. This shows the importance of regular prayer habits. Discuss how Daniel's faithfulness throughout his life prepared him for this moment.

Lesson 5: The Writing on the Wall

The Story

Years later, there was a new king named Belshazzar. He was NOT a good king! He had a big party and used the special cups from Yahuah's Temple to drink from. This was very wrong!

Suddenly, a HAND appeared and started writing on the wall!

The king was terrified! No one could read the strange words. They called for Daniel!

The Mysterious Words:

MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN

What Did It Mean?

Daniel read the words and told the king what they meant:

That very night, the kingdom was taken over! Yahuah's message came true!

"This is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN."

— Daniel 5:25

Fill in the Blanks:

1 A appeared and wrote on the wall.
2 The king's name was .
3 Only could read the writing.

Draw the Hand Writing!

Draw the hand writing on the wall:

The Lesson

We must respect Yahuah and His things! He sees everything we do!

Lesson 6: Daniel's Special Dreams

The Story

Yahuah gave Daniel the ability to understand dreams and visions! When kings had dreams they couldn't understand, they called Daniel.

King Nebuchadnezzar had a scary dream about a giant statue made of different metals. No one could tell him what it meant - except Daniel!

Yahuah showed Daniel exactly what the dream meant. It told about kingdoms that would come in the future!

Daniel's gift of understanding dreams came from Yahuah! Daniel always gave Yahuah the credit - not himself!

"There is an Elah in heaven that revealeth secrets."

— Daniel 2:28

What Daniel Always Did:

1 Daniel to Yahuah for help.
2 Daniel gave the credit, not himself.
3 Yahuah showed Daniel secrets about the .

Draw a Dream!

Draw what you think the king's dream looked like (a big statue!):

The Lesson

When Yahuah gives us gifts, we should always thank Him and give Him the praise!

This is a simplified introduction to Daniel's prophetic role. As children grow, they can learn more details about the statue dream (Daniel 2) and its fulfillment through history.
