"The heavens declare the glory of Elohim; and the firmament shows His handiwork."

— Psalm 19:1

Yahuah made everything with order and numbers! When we learn math, we discover how amazing His creation is!

How to Use This Workbook

We learn with the 4 Rs!

1. RECEIVE
Read and listen to the lesson. Look at the pictures!
2. REFLECT
Think about what you learned. Do the activities!
3. RECALL
Can you remember? Try without looking!
4. RESPOND
Use what you learned! Find numbers everywhere!

Lesson 1: Counting to 20

Let's Learn!

Yahuah made us with fingers and toes to help us count! You have 10 fingers and 10 toes. That's 20 altogether!

Did you know? Yahuah told Noah to bring 2 of every animal onto the ark. He had to count!

Count with Me!

12345 678910 1112131415 1617181920
When we count, each number is one more than the number before it!

Fill in the Missing Numbers:

1 1, 2, , 4, 5
2 6, 7, 8, , 10
3 11, , 13, 14,
4 16, 17, , 19,

Draw and Count!

Draw 7 stars in the box below:

How many stars did you draw?

Can You Remember?

Close your eyes and count from 1 to 20 out loud!

I did it! Yes!

Practice counting objects around the house - toys, books, spoons. Count forward and backward. Use fingers and toes to reinforce that 10 + 10 = 20.

Lesson 2: Counting to 100

Bigger Numbers!

After 20 comes 21, 22, 23... all the way to 100! Let's learn to count by 10s first - it's like climbing stairs!

Count by 10s:

1020304050 60708090100

The 10 Commandments! Yahuah gave Moses 10 special rules on two tablets of stone.

Fill in the Missing 10s:

1 10, 20, , 40, 50
2 50, , 70, 80,

What Comes Next?

3 23, 24, 25, ,
4 47, 48, , 50,
5 98, 99, ! (The biggest two-digit number + 1!)
100 is called "one hundred" because it's 10 groups of 10!

Count by 5s!

Fill in the numbers when counting by 5:

5, 10, , 20, , 30, , 40

Can You Remember?

Say the 10s out loud: 10, 20, 30... all the way to 100!

I counted by 10s!

Use a hundred chart for visual learning. Count by 2s, 5s, and 10s using objects. Clapping or jumping while counting helps kinesthetic learners.

Lesson 3: Ones and Tens Place

Every Digit Has a Place!

In the number 35:

30 + 5 = 35!

Yahuah is a Elohim of order! Every number has its place, just like every star has its place in the sky!

Look at the Place Value Chart:

TENS (groups of 10) ONES (single items)
3 5

This shows the number 35!

What Number Is It?

1 4 tens and 2 ones =
2 7 tens and 8 ones =
3 5 tens and 0 ones =

Fill in the Tens and Ones:

4 63 = tens and ones
5 29 = tens and ones
6 84 = tens and ones

Draw It!

Draw the number 26 using sticks (| = 1) and bundles (|||||||||| = 10):

Hint: Draw 2 bundles of 10 and 6 single sticks!

Can You Remember?

In the number 47, which digit is in the tens place?

Which digit is in the ones place?

Use physical objects to teach place value - straws bundled in groups of 10, coins (10 pennies = 1 dime), or blocks. This concrete understanding is essential before moving to addition.

Lesson 4: Adding Numbers Together

Addition Means Putting Together!

When we ADD, we put things together to find the TOTAL.

The + sign means "plus" or "and."

The = sign means "equals" or "is the same as."

Noah's Ark: If 2 lions came in and then 2 tigers came in, how many big cats were on the ark? 2 + 2 = 4!

Adding Small Numbers:

1 3 + 2 =
2 4 + 3 =
3 5 + 5 =
4 6 + 4 =
5 7 + 3 =

Story Problems:

6 Adam named 5 birds in the morning and 3 birds in the afternoon. How many birds did he name? birds
7 You have 4 apples. Your friend gives you 6 more. How many apples do you have now? apples

Draw to Add!

Draw 4 circles and 3 more circles. Count them all!

4 + 3 =

When you add 0 to any number, the number stays the same! 5 + 0 = 5

Quick Practice!

2 + 2 =    3 + 3 =    4 + 4 =

Use fingers, counters, or snacks for hands-on addition practice. Start with sums to 10, then progress to larger numbers. Make it fun with games!

Lesson 5: Taking Away (Subtraction)

Subtraction Means Taking Away!

When we SUBTRACT, we take some away from a group.

The - sign means "minus" or "take away."

The answer is what's LEFT!

Elijah and the Ravens: If the ravens brought 7 pieces of bread and Elijah ate 3, how many were left? 7 - 3 = 4!

Subtracting Numbers:

1 5 - 2 =
2 8 - 3 =
3 10 - 4 =
4 7 - 7 =
5 9 - 5 =

Story Problems:

6 There were 8 sheep in the field. 2 walked away. How many sheep are left? sheep
7 You picked 10 flowers. You gave 4 to your mother. How many do you have left? flowers

Draw to Subtract!

Draw 6 apples. Cross out 2. How many are left?

6 - 2 =

When you subtract 0 from any number, the number stays the same! 8 - 0 = 8

Quick Practice!

10 - 5 =    6 - 3 =    4 - 2 =

Connect subtraction to addition (fact families). If 3 + 4 = 7, then 7 - 4 = 3 and 7 - 3 = 4. Use the same manipulatives used for addition.

Lesson 6: Shapes Yahuah Made

Shapes Are Everywhere!

Yahuah filled His creation with beautiful shapes! Let's learn the basic shapes and find them in the world around us.

Circle
0 corners
Round like the sun!

Square
4 equal sides
4 corners

Rectangle
4 sides (2 long, 2 short)
4 corners

Triangle
3 sides
3 corners

The Ark! Noah's ark was shaped like a rectangle. The rainbow Yahuah put in the sky is part of a circle!

How Many Corners?

1 A triangle has corners.
2 A square has corners.
3 A circle has corners.

How Many Sides?

4 A triangle has sides.
5 A rectangle has sides.

Draw the Shapes!

Draw each shape in the box:

Circle Square Triangle Rectangle

Shape Hunt!

Find these shapes in your house and write what you found:

Circle:

Square:

Rectangle:

Go on a shape walk around your home or neighborhood. Point out circles (wheels, clocks), squares (windows, tiles), triangles (roof edges, pizza slices), and rectangles (doors, books).

Lesson 7: Measuring Things

How Big Is It?

We measure things to find out how long, tall, or heavy they are. Yahuah told Noah exactly how big to build the ark!

Genesis 6:15 - The ark was 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. Yahuah gave Noah precise measurements!

Ways to Measure:

Length: How long something is (inches, feet, cubits)
Height: How tall something is
Weight: How heavy something is (pounds, ounces)

Measure with Your Hands!

A "hand span" is the distance from your thumb to your pinky when stretched out. Use your hand to measure!

Measuring Activity:

Use your hand span to measure these things. Write how many hand spans:

1 Your book: hand spans
2 A table: hand spans
3 A pillow: hand spans

Longer or Shorter?

4 Is a pencil longer or shorter than your arm?
5 Is an ant bigger or smaller than a dog?

Think About It!

What is the tallest thing you have ever seen?

Introduce measuring tools: rulers, measuring tapes, scales. Compare household items by length. Use non-standard units first (hands, feet, blocks) before introducing inches and centimeters.

Lesson 8: Special Numbers in the Bible

Yahuah Uses Numbers!

In the Bible, some numbers appear again and again. They have special meanings!

"In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth." — Genesis 1:1

In 7 days, Yahuah created everything!

Special Bible Numbers:

Number Special Meaning Bible Example
1 There is ONE Elohim "Yahuah is ONE" (Deut 6:4)
3 Yahusha rose on day 3 3 days in the tomb
7 Complete and Perfect 7 days of creation
10 Yahuah's Teachings 10 Commandments
12 Yahuah's Family 12 tribes, 12 disciples
40 Testing Time 40 days of rain (Noah)

Fill in the Bible Numbers:

1 Yahuah created the world in days.
2 Yahuah gave Moses Commandments.
3 Yahusha chose disciples.
4 It rained for days and nights during the flood.
5 There are tribes of Israel.
The number 7 appears over 700 times in the Bible! There are 7 days in a week, and the 7th day is the Sabbath - a day of rest!

Draw a Picture!

Draw something from creation that shows the number 7 (like the 7 days, or 7 colors in a rainbow!):

Can You Remember?

What does the number 7 mean in the Bible?

This lesson introduces the concept that numbers have meaning beyond just quantity. Help children find these numbers in their Bibles. Count to 7 while talking about creation. Count 12 items to represent the tribes or disciples.
