- John 1:1

Words are so important that Yahusha is called "The Word"!

A NOUN is a word that names something. Today we'll learn about nouns that name people and animals!

People Nouns

These nouns name people:

Animal Nouns

These nouns name animals:

dog cat lion fish bird
"So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field."
- Genesis 2:20

Adam was the first person to name the animals! When you learn nouns, you're learning the names that Yahuah gave Adam the job to create!

Bible People Nouns:

book Bible table bread ark
"Yahuah Elohim planted a garden eastward in Eden."

"He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters."
- Psalm 23:2

Can you find the verbs? Makes, lie, and leads are all action verbs!

Every sentence needs a verb! Without a verb, a sentence is not complete. Verbs make sentences come alive with action!

Bible Action Verbs:

"I AM who I AM."
- Exodus 3:14

Yahuah said "I AM" - that's a being verb! It shows that He exists forever!

Subject = WHO or WHAT the sentence is about (usually a noun)

Verb = What the subject DOES or IS

"Yahuah loves you."
- Deuteronomy 7:8

In this sentence:

A sentence always starts with a CAPITAL letter and ends with a punctuation mark (. ! ?). This tells the reader where the sentence begins and ends!

David sings.

Subject = David | Verb = sings

The fish swims.

Subject = The fish | Verb = swims

Can you find adjectives? Deep describes the water!

Adjectives make our sentences more interesting! Instead of "dog," we can say "big brown dog." Now we can picture it better!
