The Alphabet

There are 26 letters in the English alphabet. Some letters make their own sounds (consonants), and some make special sounds (vowels)!

What Sounds Do They Make?

A says /a/ like in Adam (the first man!)

B says /b/ like in Bible

C says /k/ like in Creation

D says /d/ like in David

E says /e/ like in Elohim

F says /f/ like in Faith

A is for Adam - the first man Yahuah made! Yahuah formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him. (Genesis 2:7)

Hebrew Connection!

The first letter of the Hebrew alphabet is א (Aleph). It is silent but very important - it represents Yahuah, the Mighty One!

G says /g/ like in Genesis

H says /h/ like in Holy

I says /i/ like in Israel

J says /j/ like in Joshua

K says /k/ like in King

L is for LOVE! The Bible says "Elohim is love" (1 John 4:8). That's why we learn to read - so we can read about Yahuah's love!

N is for NOAH! Noah built a big ark because he listened to Yahuah. He saved his family and the animals from the flood!

S is for SABBATH - Yahuah's special day of rest! Every week we get to rest and spend time with our family and with Yahuah.

Hebrew Connection!

The name YAHUAH starts with the Hebrew letter י (Yod) - the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet, but it starts the most important Name!

5The 5 Special Vowels

RECEIVE - Learn About Vowels!

There are 5 special letters called VOWELS. Every word needs at least one vowel!

Remember: A - E - I - O - U!

Sing it like a song: "A - E - I - O - U, these are vowels, yes it's true!"

See how "I" and "A" are vowels? Even short words need vowels!


Without vowels, we couldn't say words! Try saying "CAT" without the "A" - you can't! Yahuah made vowels so we can speak and praise Him!

6Blending Sounds Together

Now that you know the letter sounds, let's blend them together to make words!

Blending means saying the sounds together smoothly to make a word.
