1Yahuah Made the Sky!

On the SECOND day of creation, Yahuah made something very special. He made the FIRMAMENT!

Genesis 1:6-7
"And Elohim said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters... And Elohim made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament."

What is the Firmament?

The firmament is like a beautiful dome over the earth! It's the SKY that Yahuah made. In Hebrew, the word is "raqia" (rah-KEE-ah).

Imagine looking up at the beautiful blue sky - that's the firmament Yahuah made for us!

Yahuah called the firmament "HEAVEN"! When you look up at the sky, you're looking at part of heaven!

The Firmament is Like a Divider!

Yahuah used the firmament to separate:

Waters BELOW - the oceans, lakes, and rivers
Waters ABOVE - water above the sky!

2The Firmament is Strong!

Did you know the firmament is STRONG? The Bible tells us!

Job 37:18
"Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is STRONG, and as a molten looking glass?"

What Does This Mean?

The sky is STRONG - not weak or empty!
It's like a looking glass (mirror) - smooth and solid!
Yahuah "spread it out" - He stretched it over the earth!

A "molten looking glass" means a mirror made from metal that was melted and shaped. Ancient mirrors were made from shiny metal! The firmament is like that - strong and beautiful!

The sky is like a strong, beautiful dome that Yahuah placed over the earth to protect us!

3The Sun, Moon, and Stars!

Where did Yahuah put the sun, moon, and stars? IN the firmament!

Genesis 1:14-17
"And Elohim said, Let there be lights IN the firmament of the heaven... And Elohim made two great lights... the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And Elohim set them IN the firmament of the heaven."

What Yahuah Put IN the Firmament:

The SUN - the greater light for daytime
The MOON - the lesser light for nighttime
The STARS - all the beautiful stars!

The Bible says these lights are IN the firmament - not millions of miles away in "space"! They are close to us, inside Yahuah's beautiful sky dome!

What Are They For?

To give us LIGHT
For SIGNS - telling us about special times
For SEASONS - spring, summer, fall, winter
For DAYS and YEARS - counting time

4Waters Above the Firmament!

There is WATER above the firmament! Isn't that amazing?

Psalm 148:4
"Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be ABOVE the heavens."

Yes, There's Water Up There!

The Bible tells us there are waters ABOVE the sky! The firmament holds this water up, keeping it separate from the water below (the oceans).

Remember Noah's flood? Genesis 7:11 says "the windows of heaven were opened." That means the water above the firmament came down! Yahuah has windows in the firmament!

5Yahuah's Throne is Above!

Do you know what's ABOVE the firmament? Yahuah's throne!

Ezekiel 1:26
"And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne... and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it."

Yahuah is CLOSE to Us!

The Bible tells us that Yahuah's throne is right above the firmament! He's not far away - He's watching over us from above!

When you look UP at the sky, Yahuah is right above it, sitting on His throne! He can see you and hear your prayers!

Psalm 33:13-14
"Yahuah looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth."

6The Firmament Shows Yahuah's Glory!

The beautiful sky tells us how amazing Yahuah is!

Psalm 19:1
"The heavens declare the glory of Elohim; and the firmament showeth his handywork."

What Does the Sky Tell Us?

It shows us how POWERFUL Yahuah is - He made all of it!
It shows us how CREATIVE Yahuah is - beautiful colors at sunrise and sunset!
It shows us how CARING Yahuah is - He put lights to help us!

Every time you see a beautiful sunset with orange, pink, and purple colors, the firmament is showing you Yahuah's handywork! He painted it just for you!

The blue sky, white clouds, golden sun, silver moon, twinkling stars - ALL of it shows how wonderful Yahuah is!
