"Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy" - Exodus 20:8

1The Very First Sabbath

RECEIVE - Learn About It!

Do you know what Yahuah did after He made the whole world? He rested!

Yahuah took six days to make everything:

Then on Day 7, Yahuah stopped working. He made the seventh day special and holy. We call this day the Sabbath!

"Then Elohim blessed the seventh day and made it holy."
- Genesis 2:3

The word "Sabbath" comes from a Hebrew word that means "to rest" or "to stop." When we keep the Sabbath, we stop our regular work just like Yahuah did!

REFLECT - Answer the Questions!

Circle the right answer:

1. How many days did Yahuah take to make everything?

2. What did Yahuah do on the seventh day?

True or False? Circle one:

3. The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week.

4. Yahuah was tired so He had to rest.

RECALL - Draw What You Learned!

Draw a picture of Yahuah resting on the seventh day after making the world:

RESPOND - Do It With a Parent!

2Special Bread from Heaven

RECEIVE - Learn About It!

After Yahuah rescued the Israelites from Egypt, they were walking through a big desert. They were very hungry!

So Yahuah sent special bread from the sky every morning. It was called manna. It tasted sweet like honey!

But here's the amazing part:

"Yahuah has given you the Sabbath."
- Exodus 16:29

On normal days, if they saved manna overnight it would get worms and smell bad! But the manna saved for Sabbath stayed fresh. That was a miracle!

REFLECT - Answer the Questions!

Circle the right answer:

1. What was the special bread from heaven called?

2. Why did they collect double on day 6?

True or False? Circle one:

3. Manna fell from the sky on the Sabbath day.

4. Yahuah did a miracle to keep the manna fresh for Sabbath.

RECALL - Draw What You Learned!

Draw the Israelites collecting manna from the ground:

RESPOND - Do It With a Parent!

3The Remember Commandment

RECEIVE - Learn About It!

Yahuah gave His people Ten Commandments - special rules to help us live good lives.

The fourth commandment says:

"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to Yahuah your Elohim."
- Exodus 20:8-10

This is the ONLY commandment that starts with "Remember!" Why? Because people often forget it!

Yahuah wants EVERYONE to rest on the Sabbath:

The Sabbath is a special gift from Yahuah! It's like getting a present every single week - a whole day to rest and spend time with your family!

REFLECT - Answer the Questions!

Circle the right answer:

1. Which commandment is about the Sabbath?

2. The commandment starts with what word?

4A Special Sign

RECEIVE - Learn About It!

Do you know what a sign is? A sign shows people something important!

"My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you."
- Exodus 31:13

When we keep the Sabbath, it shows that we love Yahuah and want to follow Him. It's like wearing a special badge that says: "I belong to Yahuah!"

The Hebrew word for "sign" is "ot." It's like putting on a team jersey - it shows which team you're on! The Sabbath shows we're on Yahuah's team!

REFLECT - Answer the Questions!

Circle the right answer:

1. The Sabbath is a _______ between us and Yahuah.

2. What was the sign of Yahuah's promise to Noah?

RECEIVE - Learn About It!

Did you know that Yahusha (Jesus) kept the Sabbath too? Every week, He would go to the synagogue (a place to learn about Yahuah) on the Sabbath day!

"And He came to Nazareth, where He had grown up, and as was His custom, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day."
- Luke 4:16

Yahusha also said something very important:

"The Sabbath was made for man."
- Mark 2:27

This means the Sabbath is a gift for us! Yahuah made it because He loves us and wants us to have a special day of rest!

Yahusha is called the "Lord of the Sabbath." That means He's the boss of it! And He never changed it - He kept it every single week!

REFLECT - Answer the Questions!

When Yahusha comes back and makes everything new and beautiful, people will STILL keep the Sabbath!

"From one Sabbath to another, shall all people come to worship before Me, says Yahuah."
- Isaiah 66:23

That means:

The Sabbath is special from the very BEGINNING of the world all the way to the very END - and even after that in the new world! It's not just an old rule - it's forever!

REFLECT - Answer the Questions!

Circle the right answer:

1. Will people keep the Sabbath in the new earth?
