Ancient History & Archaeology

A Biblical Perspective

Grades 9-10 | Advanced History

Course Approach

This course examines ancient history through a dual lens:

We believe the archaeological record, properly interpreted, confirms rather than contradicts Scripture.

1Understanding Dating Methods

How Do We Know How Old Something Is?

What Textbooks Teach

What They Don't Tell You

Archaeological Dating

For human history (within ~4,500 years), methods are more reliable:

These methods generally align with biblical chronology!

"In the beginning Elohim created the heaven and the earth." - Genesis 1:1

Analysis Questions

1. Why might scientists assume old ages rather than young?

2. How does worldview affect interpretation of data?

2Creation & Early Earth

The Beginning of History

What Textbooks Teach

What Scripture Teaches

Evidence for Young Earth

"For in six days Yahuah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is." - Exodus 20:11

Discussion

If human written records only go back ~5,000 years, why do scientists claim humans are 200,000+ years old? What's missing?

3The Global Flood

Evidence for a Worldwide Catastrophe

What Textbooks Teach

Archaeological & Geological Evidence

What They Don't Mention

"And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered." - Genesis 7:19

Research Project

Look up flood legends from three different cultures (Mesopotamia, China, Native American). What common elements do they share with Genesis?

4Tower of Babel & Origin of Nations

The Dispersion of Humanity

What Textbooks Teach

Evidence for Babel Account

The Table of Nations (Genesis 10)

This is the oldest genealogical record in existence. From Noah's sons:

These connections have been verified by archaeology!

"Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because Yahuah did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did Yahuah scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth." - Genesis 11:9

Discussion

How does the Babel account explain the "sudden" appearance of complex civilizations worldwide?

5Egypt & the Exodus

Archaeological Evidence for Israel in Egypt

What Textbooks Teach

Evidence They Ignore

The Dating Problem

Much "no evidence" claims rest on conventional Egyptian chronology. If dates are revised (as scholars like David Rohl suggest), evidence aligns remarkably with the biblical account.

The problem may not be lack of evidence but wrong dating assumptions.

"And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land." - Exodus 3:8

Research Question

Why might mainstream archaeology be reluctant to confirm biblical accounts even when evidence exists?

6Giants & the Nephilim

The Suppressed Evidence

What Textbooks Teach

Historical & Archaeological Evidence

The Cover-Up Question

Why would giant skeletons be suppressed?

"There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of Elohim came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown." - Genesis 6:4

Critical Thinking

If giants were found, documented in newspapers, and sent to museums - why do we have none today? What might have happened to them?

7Advanced Ancient Technology

Were Ancient People "Primitive"?

What Textbooks Teach

Unexplained Ancient Achievements

Biblical Perspective

Scripture describes pre-Flood civilization as advanced:

Ancient humans weren't evolving upward - they were descending from original creation!

"And Tubal-cain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron." - Genesis 4:22

Discussion

How does the biblical model (original intelligence dispersing after Babel) explain advanced ancient technology better than the evolutionary model?

8Synthesis: Biblical History Confirmed

What We've Learned

Key Insights

The Pattern

When we examine the evidence without evolutionary assumptions, archaeology consistently confirms Scripture. The suppression and reinterpretation of evidence reveals not scientific objectivity but worldview bias.

"For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and divine nature; so that they are without excuse." - Romans 1:20

Course Completion

Final Project Options

  1. Research Paper: Investigate one topic (Flood, Exodus, Giants, etc.) and document the evidence
  2. Comparison Essay: Compare mainstream and biblical interpretations of one event
  3. Presentation: Create a presentation on archaeological confirmation of Scripture
