LESSON 1: LAND ANIMALS β€” TWO REQUIREMENTS

Yahuah gave us clear rules for which land animals we can eat. They must meet BOTH requirements!

Leviticus 11:2-3
"These are the animals which you may eat: Whatever divides the , having cloven hooves and the cudβ€”among the animals, that you may eat."

The Two Requirements:

  1. Has a completely DIVIDED (SPLIT) HOOF
  2. CHEWS THE CUD (ruminates β€” rechews food)

An animal must have BOTH to be clean!

πŸ“Š Clean vs. Unclean Land Animals

⚠️ THE PIG PROBLEM

The pig looks clean externally (it has a split hoof) but fails the internal test (doesn't chew cud). This is a spiritual lesson: outward appearance can deceive!

Multiple Choice

1. To be clean, a land animal must have:

β—‹ A) Split hoof only β—‹ B) Chew cud only β—‹ C) Both split hoof AND chew cud β—‹ D) Neither

2. Why is the pig unclean?

β—‹ A) No split hoof β—‹ B) Doesn't chew cud β—‹ C) Both β—‹ D) It's actually clean

πŸ“ RECALL (3 min)

Close this workbook! Write the 2 requirements for clean land animals and 3 examples of clean animals:

πŸ“– MEMORY VERSE: Leviticus 11:44

"For I am Yahuah your Elohim: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy."

🎯 APPLICATION

LESSON 2: WATER CREATURES β€” FINS AND SCALES

For fish and water animals, Yahuah gave us another set of rules.

Leviticus 11:9-12
"These you may eat of all that are in the water: whatever has and ... But all in the seas or rivers that do not have fins and scales... they are an to you."

πŸ“– Hebrew Word Study

"Abomination" = שׁ֢ק֢Χ₯ (sheqets)

This is STRONGER than just "unclean" (tame)!

It means something detestable, to be utterly rejected!

πŸ“Š Clean vs. Unclean Water Creatures

🦐 SHELLFISH = SHEQETS

Shellfish (shrimp, lobster, crab, oysters, clams) are called ABOMINATIONβ€”the strongest word! Yahuah really doesn't want us eating these!

True or False

1. Shrimp is clean because it's popular. β—‹ True β—‹ False

2. Clean fish must have BOTH fins AND scales. β—‹ True β—‹ False

3. "Sheqets" is stronger than "unclean." β—‹ True β—‹ False

πŸ“ RECALL

What are the requirements for clean fish? Name 3 types of unclean shellfish:

πŸ—£οΈ TEACH-BACK Challenge

Explain to someone why shellfish are called "abomination" in Scripture.

🎯 APPLICATION

LESSON 3: WHY THESE LAWS? β€” WE ARE HOLY PEOPLE

Before giving food laws in Deuteronomy 14, Yahuah tells us WHO we are!

Deuteronomy 14:1-2
"You are the sons of Yahuah your Elohim... For you are a people to Yahuah your Elohim, and Yahuah has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a treasure above all peoples."

πŸ“– Hebrew Word Study

"Holy" = גַם קָדוֹשׁ (am qadosh) = Holy/Set-apart People

"Special Treasure" = Χ‘Φ°Χ’Φ»ΧœΦΈΦΌΧ” (segullah) = Treasured Possession

⭐ IDENTITY BEFORE INSTRUCTION

Notice the order:

  1. Yahuah declares WHO we are (holy people, His treasure)
  2. THEN He gives instructions on HOW to live

We don't EARN holiness by eating clean food. We MAINTAIN our holy status through obedience!

Leviticus 11:45
"For I am Yahuah who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your Elohim. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy."

Multiple Choice

1. According to Deuteronomy 14, we are:

β—‹ A) Random people β—‹ B) Holy people, Yahuah's treasure β—‹ C) Ordinary β—‹ D) Nothing special

2. We keep food laws because:

β—‹ A) We're already holy and maintain it β—‹ B) To earn holiness β—‹ C) It's optional β—‹ D) It was just for Israel

πŸ“ RECALL

What does "am qadosh" mean? Why does identity come BEFORE instruction?

πŸ“– MEMORY VERSE: Deuteronomy 14:2

"For thou art an holy people unto Yahuah thy Elohim..."

LESSON 4: SCIENCE SUPPORTS SCRIPTURE β€” PORK DANGERS

Modern science confirms Yahuah's wisdom! Pork carries serious health risks.

🦠 Trichinella spiralis (Trichinosis)

πŸͺ± Taenia solium (Pork Tapeworm)

🦠 Hepatitis E Virus (HEV)

⭐ COOKING DOESN'T SOLVE EVERYTHING

Many people say "just cook it thoroughly." But some toxins and diseases survive cooking! Plus, cross-contamination in kitchens is common.

True or False

1. Pork tapeworm can cause brain cysts. β—‹ True β—‹ False

2. Cooking pork properly eliminates ALL risks. β—‹ True β—‹ False

3. Hepatitis E has been found in U.S. grocery store pork. β—‹ True β—‹ False

πŸ“ RECALL

Name 3 diseases associated with pork and one danger each:

πŸ—£οΈ TEACH-BACK Challenge

Explain to someone the health dangers of pork.

Who I taught:

LESSON 5: SCIENCE SUPPORTS SCRIPTURE β€” SHELLFISH DANGERS

Shellfish are even more dangerous! They are filter-feeders that concentrate toxins.

☠️ Vibrio vulnificus

☠️ Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP)

🦠 Norovirus

πŸ”¬ WHY SHELLFISH ARE SO DANGEROUS

Shellfish are filter-feedersβ€”they pump water through their bodies and filter out particles. This means they concentrate toxins up to 100 times from their environment!

Multiple Choice

1. Vibrio vulnificus causes what percentage of seafood deaths?

β—‹ A) 10% β—‹ B) 50% β—‹ C) 95% β—‹ D) 5%

2. PSP toxins are destroyed by cooking:

β—‹ A) True β—‹ B) False

πŸ“ RECALL

Why are shellfish called "abomination"? List 2 reasons why they're dangerous:

πŸ“– MEMORY VERSE: Leviticus 11:10-11

"They shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh, and their carcasses you shall regard as an abomination."

LESSON 6: WHAT ABOUT THE NEW TESTAMENT?

Many people claim the New Testament abolished food laws. Let's examine the key passages!

Mark 7 β€” About Handwashing, NOT Food Laws!

The actual issue (Mark 7:1-5):
Pharisees criticized Yahusha's disciples for eating BREAD with unwashed handsβ€”violating "the tradition of the elders," NOT Torah.

⚠️ KEY OBSERVATION

NO unclean animal is mentioned anywhere in Mark 7! The word used is "artos" (bread). The entire dispute was about ceremonial handwashing traditions.

Acts 10 β€” About GENTILES, Not Food!

Acts 10:14
Peter said: "Not so, Master! For I have NEVER eaten anything common or unclean."
Acts 10:28
Peter's interpretation: "Elohim has shown me that I should not call any PERSON common or unclean."

⭐ CRITICAL POINTS

LESSON 8: WHY THIS MATTERS β€” YOUR IDENTITY

This isn't just about foodβ€”it's about who you ARE!

⭐ YOU ARE SET APART

When you follow Yahuah's dietary instructions, you're declaring:

1 Corinthians 10:31
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of Elohim."

Handling Social Situations:

πŸ’ͺ BE BOLD!

Daniel refused the king's food and Yahuah blessed him! You can politely decline unclean food too. You don't have to be rudeβ€”just firm in your convictions.

Daniel 1:8
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat."

πŸ“ RECALL

How did Daniel handle food at the king's court? What can we learn from him?
