Scripture Says the Earth Cannot Be Moved
TRUTH CARRIERS EDUCATION
Youth Edition (Ages 12-17)
In this workbook, you'll discover what the Bible really says about the earth:
The Bible states multiple times that the earth cannot be moved. Let's look at what Scripture says.
"Moved" = ΧΧΦΉΧ (mot) β Strong's #4131
Meaning: to shake, slip, totter, stagger, be displaced
"Cannot" = ΧΦ·ΦΌΧ (bal) β meaning: not, never
The earth can NEVER be moved, shaken, or displaced!
FOUR direct Bible verses say the earth cannot be moved! This is not poetry or metaphorβit's stated as fact by the Creator Himself.
1. How many verses directly state the earth cannot be moved?
β A) One β B) Two β C) Four β D) None
2. The Hebrew word "mot" means:
β A) Spin β B) Orbit β C) Shake/slip/totter β D) Float
Close this workbook! List all 4 verses that say the earth cannot be moved.
"The world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved."
Quote one of these verses to someone and explain what "mot" means in Hebrew.
Who I taught: Date:
Scripture describes the earth as having foundationsβlike a building!
Notice what Yahuah uses to describe the earth:
Would you describe a spinning ball using construction terms? NO!
When we build a house, we start with foundations. Yahuah says He LAID foundations for the earth. What does this tell us about the earth's design?
1. The Bible uses construction terms to describe the earth. β True β False
2. A spinning ball would need foundations. β True β False
3. Yahuah laid a corner stone for the earth. β True β False
List at least 4 construction terms used to describe the earth:
"Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?"
Besides foundations, Scripture says the earth rests on pillars!
"Pillars" = ΧΦΈΧ¦ΧΦΌΧ§ (matsuq) β Strong's #4690
Meaning: pillar, column, support structure
Yahuah SET the world upon pillars!
Does a spinning ball floating in space need pillars? NO! But a stationary, flat structure does need support!
1. Who set the world upon pillars?
β A) Angels β B) Yahuah β C) Nobody β D) Scientists
2. How many verses mention pillars of the earth?
β A) One β B) Two β C) Three β D) None
Name the 3 verses about pillars and what each says:
Ask someone: "Did you know Scripture says the earth has pillars?"
Who I asked:
Their response:
"For the pillars of the earth are Yahuah's, and he hath set the world upon them."
Scripture repeatedly mentions the "ends of the earth." A sphere has NO ends!
"Ends" = Χ§ΦΈΧ¦ΦΆΧ (qatseh) β Strong's #7098
Meaning: end, extremity, border, outer edge, boundary
This phrase appears over 30 times in Scripture!
If you walk in any direction on a globe, you eventually come back to where you started. There are NO ends!
But if the earth is flat with boundaries, it DOES have endsβexactly what Scripture describes!
| Globe Model | Biblical Description |
|---|---|
| No ends anywhere | Has ends (30+ references) |
| Continuous surface | Has boundaries/edges |
| No extremities | Has extremities |
Which description matches Scripture?
Explain why "ends of the earth" proves the earth is not a sphere:
"For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven."
Scripture describes the earth as having four corners. A sphere has NO corners!
Hebrew "Corners" = ΧΦΈΦΌΧ ΦΈΧ£ (kanaph) β Strong's #3671
Meaning: corner, extremity, edge, wing, border
Greek "Corners" = Ξ³ΟΞ½Ξ―Ξ± (gonia)
Meaning: corner, angle β same word used for corner of a building!
Can you stand on the "corner" of a sphere? NO!
Can angels stand on the "four corners" of a ball? NO!
But they CAN stand on the four corners of a flat surface!
1. How many corners does Scripture say the earth has?
β A) Zero β B) Two β C) Four β D) Infinite
2. Can a sphere have corners?
β A) Yes β B) No
List the 3 verses about four corners:
Explain to someone what "four corners" tells us about the earth's shape.
Who I taught:
"I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth."
Isaiah 40:22 is often misused. Let's examine it carefully!
"Circle" = ΧΧΦΌΧ (chug) β Strong's #2329
Meaning: circle, circuit, compass, horizon
This is a FLAT circleβlike a compass faceβNOT a sphere!
Hebrew HAS a word for sphere/ball: ΧΦΌΧΦΌΧ¨ (dur) β Strong's #1754
See Isaiah 22:18: "He will... toss thee like a ball."
If Yahuah meant sphere, He would have used "dur," not "chug"!
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ΧΧΦΌΧ (chug) | Circle, circuit | Isaiah 40:22 (earth) |
| ΧΦΌΧΦΌΧ¨ (dur) | Ball, sphere | Isaiah 22:18 (toss like ball) |
Which word is used for the earth?
Does "chug" mean sphere?
Explain the difference between "chug" and "dur":
Explain to someone why Isaiah 40:22 does NOT prove a spherical earth.
Who I taught:
If the earth is fixed and immovable, what moves? The SUN!
If the earth rotates (causing day/night), why didn't Joshua command the EARTH to stand still?
Because the SUN moves, not the earth!
The sun has a "circuit" β a path it travels. If the earth moved and the sun stood still, why would Scripture say the sun has a circuit?
1. Joshua commanded the SUN to stand still. β True β False
2. Joshua commanded the EARTH to stop spinning. β True β False
3. The sun has a "circuit" according to Psalm 19. β True β False
Explain why Joshua 10 proves the sun moves, not the earth:
"The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose."
Let's compare what modern science claims versus what Scripture says.
| Modern Claim | Scripture Says |
|---|---|
| Earth rotates 1,000+ mph | Cannot be moved (Psalm 93:1) |
| Earth orbits the sun | Sun has a circuit (Psalm 19:6) |
| Earth floats in space | Has foundations & pillars (Job 38:6) |
| Earth has no boundaries | Has ends and corners (Job 28:24) |
| Earth is a sphere | Circle with corners (Isaiah 40:22) |
You must choose: Believe Yahuah's Word, or believe the theories of men.
There is no middle ground.
List 4 contradictions between Scripture and the globe model:
Challenge someone with these contradictions. What was their response?
"Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever."
Why does it matter whether the earth moves or not?
If Scripture is wrong about the earth, what else might it be wrong about?
| Fixed Earth Teaches | Globe Model Teaches |
|---|---|
| Intentional design | Random accident |
| Earth is central | Earth is a random speck |
| Man is the focus | Man is insignificant |
| Yahuah is close | God is distant or absent |
If they can deceive you about the very ground under your feet, they can deceive you about ANYTHING.
You are NOT an accident on a random speck in infinite space.
You are a beloved creation of Yahuah, living on HIS designed earth, under HIS throne!
Explain why the shape of the earth is a spiritual issue:
Psalm 93:1, Psalm 96:10, Psalm 104:5, 1 Chronicles 16:30
Job 38:4-6, Psalm 102:25, Psalm 104:5, Proverbs 8:29, 2 Samuel 22:16
1 Samuel 2:8, Job 9:6, Psalm 75:3
Job 28:24, Job 38:13, Isaiah 40:28 (30+ references total)
Isaiah 11:12, Revelation 7:1, Revelation 20:8
Isaiah 40:22 (chug β dur/ball)
Joshua 10:12-13, Ecclesiastes 1:5, Psalm 19:4-6
