Fountains of the Deep, Windows of Heaven, and World Destruction
TRUTH CARRIERS EDUCATION
Youth Edition (Ages 12-17)
Have you ever wondered how the Flood REALLY happened? Where did all that water come from?
In this workbook, you'll discover:
Name:
Date Started:
Before the Flood, the world looked VERY different from today. Let's review what Yahuah created on Day 2:
The pre-Flood world had THREE layers:
Before the Flood, it had never rained! Instead, a mist came up from the ground to water everything. Many scientists believe there was a water canopy around the earth that created:
1. What divided the waters above from the waters below?
○ A) Mountains ○ B) The firmament ○ C) Clouds ○ D) Nothing
2. How was the earth watered before the Flood?
○ A) Rain ○ B) A mist from the earth ○ C) Irrigation ○ D) Rivers only
1. There were waters above the firmament before the Flood.
○ True ○ False
2. It rained regularly before the Flood.
○ True ○ False
"And Elohim made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament."
Close this workbook! Write down: The 3 layers of the pre-Flood world. How the earth was watered. Why there was no rain.
Explain the pre-Flood world structure to someone! Draw a diagram if it helps.
Who I taught: Date:
When the Flood started, the FIRST thing that happened was...
baqa (Strong's #1234) means:
This was a VIOLENT, CATASTROPHIC event - not gentle rain!
The "deep" (Hebrew: tehom) refers to massive underground water reservoirs. Think about it - the earth's crust CRACKED OPEN and water EXPLODED out!
Yahuah "strengthened" or restrained these fountains - until the day of the Flood, when He released them!
What happens FIRST in Genesis 7:11?
1.
2.
The water came from BELOW first, then from ABOVE!
1. What does "baqa" (broken up) mean?
○ A) Gentle opening ○ B) To split, rip open, burst forth ○ C) To drip slowly ○ D) To close
2. What happened FIRST?
○ A) Windows of heaven opened ○ B) Fountains of the deep broken up ○ C) It started raining ○ D) Noah entered the ark
Close this workbook! Write: What "baqa" means. What the "great deep" is. The order of events.
Explain what "fountains of the great deep" means to someone!
Who I taught: Date:
The SECOND source of Flood waters came from ABOVE!
arubbah (Strong's #699) means:
These are literal OPENINGS in the firmament!
You can't "open" or "close" empty space, right? The word "windows" implies something SOLID with openings that can be opened and shut!
This confirms the firmament is a real, solid structure!
This was the FIRST rain in history - the release of the waters above the firmament!
Draw a picture showing:
1. What does "arubbah" (windows) mean?
○ A) Empty space ○ B) Clouds ○ C) Lattice, window, floodgate ○ D) Mist
2. How long did the rain fall?
○ A) 7 days ○ B) 40 days and nights ○ C) 150 days ○ D) 1 year
1. "Windows of heaven" implies a physical structure that can be opened.
○ True ○ False
2. It had rained many times before the Flood.
○ True ○ False
Close the workbook! Write: What "arubbah" means. Where the windows are. How long the rain fell.
"The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained."
Was the Flood local or global? Scripture makes it ABUNDANTLY clear!
1. How much of the earth did the Flood cover?
○ A) Just a valley ○ B) The Middle East ○ C) All the high hills under the whole heaven ○ D) Half the earth
2. How many people survived outside the ark?
○ A) Thousands ○ B) Hundreds ○ C) A few ○ D) None
1. The Flood was a local event.
○ True ○ False
2. All land animals outside the ark died.
○ True ○ False
Close the workbook! List at least 3 pieces of evidence that the Flood was global:
Explain to someone why the Flood HAD to be global based on Scripture.
Who I taught: Date:
The Flood was NOT just 40 days! The earth was covered for over a YEAR!
| Event | Time |
|---|---|
| Flood began (Genesis 7:11) | 2nd month, 17th day |
| Rain fell | days |
| Waters prevailed (Genesis 7:24) | days |
| Ark rested on Ararat (Genesis 8:4) | 7th month, 17th day |
| Earth dried (Genesis 8:14) | 2nd month, 27th day (next year!) |
| TOTAL TIME ON ARK | About 1 year + 10 days! |
1. How long did the waters prevail?
○ A) 40 days ○ B) 100 days ○ C) 150 days ○ D) 365 days
2. How long was Noah on the ark total?
○ A) 40 days ○ B) 5 months ○ C) Over 1 year ○ D) 2 years
Close the workbook! Write the timeline: How long did rain fall? How long did waters prevail? Total time on ark?
After the Flood, EVERYTHING was different!
Before: Waters above the firmament (protective canopy)
After: Most of those waters fell to earth, causing:
This was the FIRST rainbow! Why? Because there had been no rain before!
1. What is the sign of Yahuah's covenant after the Flood?
○ A) The sun ○ B) The moon ○ C) The rainbow ○ D) Stars
2. Why had there been no rainbow before?
○ A) No sun ○ B) No rain before the Flood ○ C) Rainbows didn't exist ○ D) No one noticed
Close the workbook! List the 3 major changes after the Flood:
"I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth."
The Flood left MASSIVE evidence that we can still see today!
Over 75% of the earth's surface is covered with sedimentary rock. These layers extend across entire CONTINENTS and were formed by water!
Fossils require RAPID burial (or else the creature decays). The Flood explains:
Coal and oil form from buried organic matter. The Flood buried vast forests and organisms rapidly!
These are fossils (like tree trunks) that extend through MULTIPLE rock layers. If each layer took thousands of years, the tree would have rotted! These prove rapid burial.
Over 200 cultures worldwide have flood legends! Why? Because they all descended from Noah's family!
1. How much of earth's surface is covered by sedimentary rock?
○ A) 10% ○ B) 25% ○ C) Over 75% ○ D) 50%
2. How many cultures have flood legends?
○ A) Only 1 ○ B) 20 ○ C) Over 200 ○ D) 3
1. Marine fossils on mountaintops prove a global flood.
○ True ○ False
2. Fossils form slowly over millions of years.
○ True ○ False
Close the workbook! List 5 evidences for the global Flood:
Explain at least 3 evidences for the Flood to someone!
Who I taught: Date:
One major (often overlooked) reason for the Flood: the Nephilim!
Nephilim (Strong's #5303) means:
These were the offspring of fallen angels and human women!
The word "perfect" (Hebrew: tamim) can mean "without blemish" or "genetically pure." Noah's family was the only line NOT corrupted by Nephilim genetics!
The Flood was necessary to preserve the human race and the promised Messiah!
1. Who were the "sons of Elohim" who took human wives?
○ A) Godly men ○ B) Fallen angels ○ C) Kings ○ D) Priests
2. Why was Noah chosen to survive?
○ A) He was rich ○ B) He was perfect/pure in his generations ○ C) He was a king ○ D) Random choice
Close the workbook! Write: Who the Nephilim were. Why the Flood was necessary. What "perfect in generations" means.
"Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with Elohim."
Yahuah promised NEVER to destroy the earth by flood again. The rainbow reminds us of:
Just as the Flood came suddenly and destroyed the unprepared, so will the final judgment by fire!
Are YOU in the ark? Today, our "ark" is Yahusha HaMashiach!
1. What is the sign of Yahuah's covenant with Noah?
○ A) Circumcision ○ B) Sabbath ○ C) Rainbow ○ D) Dove
2. What is the NEXT global judgment reserved for?
○ A) Water again ○ B) Fire ○ C) Wind ○ D) Earthquake
3. Who is our "ark" of salvation today?
○ A) Our good works ○ B) Yahusha HaMashiach ○ C) The church building ○ D) Nothing
1. There will never be another global judgment.
○ True ○ False
2. The next judgment will be by fire.
○ True ○ False
Close the workbook! Write: The rainbow promise. The next judgment. Who our "ark" is today.
Share the connection between the Flood and the coming judgment by fire with someone!
Who I taught: Date:
"Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished."
After completing this study, answer:
How does biblical cosmology explain the Flood?
What were the two sources of Flood waters?
What evidence do we see today of the global Flood?
How does the Flood point to the final judgment?
What is your personal response to what you've learned?
Instructions: After completing each lesson, return to review at these intervals.
