The Seven Churches of Revelation - Historical and Prophetic
The Book of Revelation is one of the most fascinating — and most misunderstood — books in the Bible. This study uses the HISTORICIST interpretation, which was believed by virtually all Protestant Reformers like Martin Luther, John Calvin, and John Wesley.
This approach understands Revelation's prophecies as being fulfilled throughout history from John's day to the Second Coming.
You'll learn about:
Sacred Names: Yahuah (Father), Yahusha (Messiah), Elohim (Mighty One)
The Book of Revelation was written by the Apostle John while exiled on the island of Patmos, around 95-96 AD.
| View | What It Teaches | Problem |
|---|---|---|
| Preterism | Everything happened in 70 AD | Ignores future events |
| Futurism | Everything is still future | 2000+ years of no relevance? |
| Historicism | Prophecies unfold through history | Requires historical study |
| Symbol | Meaning | Scripture |
|---|---|---|
| Beast | Kingdom/Empire | Daniel 7:17, 23 |
| Waters/Sea | Peoples, nations | Revelation 17:15 |
| Woman (Pure) | True Assembly/Church | 2 Corinthians 11:2 |
| Woman (Harlot) | Apostate religion | Ezekiel 16, 23 |
| Day (prophetic) | Year (literal) | Numbers 14:34 |

○ B) The Protestant Reformers
○ C) Roman Catholic scholars
○ D) Modern TV preachers only
2. In prophecy, a "beast" represents:

"Blessed is he that reads, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein."
List 3 reasons the Reformers used historicism:
The seven assemblies in Revelation 2-3 represent seven periods of church history from Yahusha's time until His return:

These events were witnessed by thousands and documented in newspapers:
| Sign | Event | Date |

| Moon as Blood | Same night as Dark Day | May 19-20, 1780 |
| Stars Falling | Leonid Meteor Storm | November 13, 1833 |
During the Dark Day, a Connecticut lawmaker said: "The day of judgment is either approaching, or it is not. If it is not, there is no cause for an adjournment; if it is, I choose to be found doing my duty."
These signs announced that Yahusha's coming was near!

List the four cosmic signs of the sixth seal with their dates:
This echoes Joseph's dream (Genesis 37:9-10):
The woman represents Yahuah's faithful people — Israel becoming the true assembly.
"Rule all nations with rod of iron" (Psalm 2:9). The dragon tried to devour the child — Herod's massacre!
The woman flees to the wilderness during papal supremacy. Faithful groups like the Waldenses preserved truth during this time.

Sabbath Connection: "Worship Him that made heaven and earth" directly quotes the Fourth Commandment (Exodus 20:11)!
