"Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy" - Exodus 20:8
The Sabbath wasn't just a rule given to Moses thousands of years later. It was created at the very beginning of the world!
Elohim did three things to the seventh day that He did to no other day:
Fill in the Blanks:
1. Elohim rested on the day.
2. The Sabbath was established at , not at Mount Sinai.
3. The Sabbath was made for all , not just Jews (Mark 2:27).

Think About It: Why does it matter that the Sabbath was created before sin entered the world?
Without looking, write the three things Elohim did to the seventh day:
Explain to a family member why the Sabbath is for everyone, not just Jewish people.
Who did you teach? Date:
"Then Elohim blessed the seventh day and made it holy."
Many people think the Sabbath was first given at Mount Sinai when Moses received the Ten Commandments. But Israel was already keeping the Sabbath BEFORE they got there!
When Israel was in the wilderness, Yahuah fed them with bread from heaven called manna. But He used it to teach them about the Sabbath:
| Day | What Happened |
|---|---|
| Days 1-5 | Gather one portion - it stayed fresh for one day |
| Day 6 | Gather double portion - it stayed fresh for two days! |
| Day 7 (Sabbath) | No manna fell - rest and eat what you saved |
Fill in the Blanks:
1. On day six, the Israelites gathered a portion.
2. On the seventh day, no fell from heaven.
3. This happened the Ten Commandments were given.
True or False:
Describe what happened with the manna on days 1-5, day 6, and day 7:
Tell the manna story and explain what it proves about the Sabbath.

The Sabbath is more than just a day off. It's a "sign" that identifies who belongs to Yahuah!
The Hebrew word is "ot" (אוֹת). It means a marker, a signal, or proof of identity. Think of it like:
Fill in the Blanks:
1. The Sabbath is a between Yahuah and His people.
2. The Hebrew word for "sign" is .
3. The covenant is described as (it never ends).
Think About It: If the Sabbath is a "sign" that identifies Yahuah's people, what does it mean when we stop keeping it?
What is the Hebrew word for "sign" and what does the Sabbath sign represent?
Explain to someone why the Sabbath is called an "eternal covenant."
Who did you teach? Date:
"My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations."
Some people say the Sabbath was only for Old Testament times. But the prophets say it will be kept even in the New Earth!
Fill in the Blanks:
1. Isaiah 58 says we should call the Sabbath a .
2. In the new heavens and earth, flesh will worship on Sabbath.

Did Yahusha (Jesus) break the Sabbath? Or did He break the man-made traditions ABOUT the Sabbath?
The religious leaders had added 39 extra rules about what counted as "work" on the Sabbath. Yahusha healed people on the Sabbath, which broke their man-made rules - but He never broke Yahuah's actual law!
Fill in the Blanks:
1. Going to synagogue on Sabbath was Yahusha's .
2. Yahusha declared Himself " of the Sabbath."
3. He broke Pharisaic , not the actual Law of Moses.

Explain the difference between Sabbath law and Pharisaic tradition.
Who did you teach? Date:
"The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath."
Some people claim the apostles changed the day of worship to Sunday after Yahusha rose. But the book of Acts tells a different story!
The word in Hebrews 4:9 is "sabbatismos" (σαββατισμός). It literally means "a keeping of the Sabbath." It's different from the general word for rest!

If the Bible didn't change the Sabbath, who did? History gives us a clear answer.
"On the venerable Day of the Sun let all judges, city people and craftsmen rest." - Emperor Constantine's Law

A common objection: "The calendar has changed, so we don't know which day is really the seventh!" Is this true?
While calendars have been adjusted (like switching from Julian to Gregorian in 1582), the seven-day weekly cycle has NEVER been broken in recorded history.
Jews have been scattered to every nation on earth for 2,000 years. Yet Jews in China, Europe, Africa, and America ALL agree on which day is the Sabbath. If the day had been lost, different communities would be keeping different days!
Fill in the Blanks:

Write the times the Sabbath starts and ends, and four things to do on it:
Explain to someone how to begin keeping the Sabbath.
