First Resurrection. 1,000-Year Reign. Second Resurrection. Final Judgment. New Creation.
"Blessed and set apart is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of Yahuah and of Messiah, and shall reign with him a thousand years." Revelation 20:6
The righteous dead are raised at Yahusha's return. This is the first resurrection. Those who take part in it are immune to the second death. They reign with Yahusha for 1,000 years.
"The rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished." Revelation 20:5
The wicked are NOT raised at the first resurrection. They remain dead for the entire millennium. They are raised AFTER the 1,000 years specifically for judgment.
The dead are ASLEEP until the resurrection. No one goes to heaven or hell immediately at death. The reward comes at the resurrection, not at death. Scripture is consistent on this point.
If the righteous go directly to heaven at death, why does Scripture describe a future resurrection? Why would Yahusha need to return to "raise the dead" if they are already in heaven? The entire framework of the resurrection depends on the dead being asleep, waiting for the appointed day.
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of Yahuah is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and Yahuah himself shall be with them, and be their Elohim. And he shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:3-4
This is the end of the story. Not floating on clouds playing harps. Yahuah dwelling with His people on a renewed earth. Real bodies. Real land. Real community. Forever.
